Biotech Startup Rebrand: Cirsium Biosciences

Fueling Growth, Securing $61M, and Redefining Biotech.

While at Particle31, our client (originally called VecProBio) faced name recognition issues, credibility concerns, and needed a bold rebrand. Through deep market research and competitor analysis, I helped to uncover key opportunities to reposition the brand. The business is founded using plants as bioreactors to produce gene therapies quickly and for dramatically cheaper costs. Inspired by the co-founder’s Scottish roots, we selected the name Cirsium Biosciences—to match the resilience, disruption, and industry transformation their science is poised to provide. I worked closely with their team to develop a new brand identity, pitch deck, website, and launch strategy. I co-led the rebrand, designed the website layout, developed brand guidelines, and crafted custom-designed merch, pitch deck templates, and social media graphics. Particle31 came alongside the company as their marketing team so they could reinvest in the business of their science.

Democratizing gene therapy through transformative manufacturing methods

The Impact? Cirsium Biosciences is now scaling rapidly, securing a $61M ARPA-H grant to drive their groundbreaking work in plant-based gene therapies. Their innovative approach is reshaping the industry—delivering high-quality, cost-effective treatments while maintaining the strict purity standards biotech demands. Their team nearly doubled in size and their branding now reflects the magnitude of their vision. The Cirsium team continues to rave about their new identity and are energized for the next phase of growth.
